All you suicidal people out there... Jun. 27th, 2006 @ 09:43 pm
Today, I spent some time working on acrobatics for Nate's movie. A Matrix fanfic yes, but it's good. Seriously. Just believe me.
I was taught a couple of things. How to break a fall, and some basic rolls. We were also shown our weaponry for use in the movie. I'm an agent, so I've got a gun. Mmm, gun. Other people have swords, staves, and some weird staff thing that breaks into two swords and a staff with pointies on either end. ...Really, I'm not making it up. It's a real weapon.
But yes.
Take this down -
If you ever want to die...
I mean, really, really want to die...
Get Nate to teach you how to do a backwards roll, and then ask him politely to push you, so you can act along with the roll.
I had a couple practice rolls before he did this, and they went well, but on the big one, with the gentle push, I forgot to roll my head to one side. Meaning I essentially wound up with the full weight of my body, with some not insignificant momentum behind it, put entirely into bending my neck forwards.
...It was somewhat painful, and there were loud, nifty cracking sounds.
Luckily, Forest knows what to do to care for potential neck injuries. Nate, Ayako, Jei... Note that this care does NOT include standing there and laughing at the affected person.
Stunningly hilarious though it was. From every other perspective but mine.
So yeah. After some time of having my neck stabilized by Forest, we decided that maybe my neck wasn't broken after all.
Which is good, because neck injuries are expensive and complicated.
So yeah. The rest of the day was good.
Mmm... A whole mess of time with Forest...
Good times.
So yeah. Now I'm in the basement of my babysitting client's house, on an iBook, typing up a journal entry.
Fuckin' macs...
Tomorrow, a full day of work. It'll be fun.
Well, no. Actually it'll be boring as hell. But it'll be money. Lots and lots of money.
Or at least $45.50. Awesome.

Alright. I'm offline for now. The mac is bitching about low battery or something.

Back later.

End of line.
Current Location: Basement, John's house.
Current Mood: Happy, though frustrated.
Current Music: None.

Alright, it's an actual journal entry now. Really. I'm not just babbling again.
Well, maybe a little babbling. I'm waiting for SpinRite to scan my old server and tell me that there's nothing wrong. About half a year ago, me and my dad picked up a whole mess of old Compaq servers, from a guy who was just giving them away. He inherited the contents of a server room when the company that owned them folded. He and a friend had meant to sell them, but his friend bailed on him and he was left with them costing $220/month to keep in storage.
...Understandably, being irrecoverable geeks, me and my dad leaped at the chance. Ancient hardware, Pentium III at best, but with the potential for quadruple processors. Be still, my heart. Unfortunately, the servers turned out to weigh ninety pounds each, and we took six. Luckily, there are other gullible fools out there who would love them. Specifically, my friend Dan. He'll probably have an actual use for them though.
But we've already gotten rid of a couple.
Donated one to school, where it was deemed useless and torn asunder to make props for prom. It was broken anyways.
One went to another friend. I believe it languishes in his basement to this day.
And then from all the other broken ones, all that, where I simply removed the drives, RAM, and processors... I've been putting the best parts into one machine. So now I've got a bunch of mediocre servers, and one which has four PII processors, 4.5GB of RAM, 60GB of hard drive space, and the label "t3h p1mp sh1zn17" on it.
...And it still takes for fucking ever to run Spinrite. Such is life.

I'll be back later. Spinrite is complaining about something.

End of line.

Did you know... That the Northern Fir... Jun. 26th, 2006 @ 12:49 am
I'm back. After a five year hiatus from LJ, I'm back.
On a new account.
So most of you out there probably don't know me for my old work. Believe me, it's a good thing that you don't. Especailly since I don't remember the account name or anything, just that it was terrible work.
So having improved a good bit, I'm journaling again. Or at least maintaining a new account so I can lurk on other peoples' journals. Lurking... With comments.
So yeah. Hello all, nice to see ya, and I'm heading out for now.
I'll make an actual journal after some time. Probably later on this year.

By the way, to my knowledge, there are only two people on this world who could possibly get that subject. If you are one of those two people, please feel free to speak up. And if you're a specific one of those two people, Adam, I didn't know you even had an LJ.

End of line.
